Bedroom Haul

Hello lovelies!

Soon I'll be moving into a new house for my second year of University, so naturally I took this opportunity to go shopping and buy a few new things for my bedroom. I pretty much had the whole room planned out in my mind until I saw it for the first time and realised the walls were mint green. Let's just say green wouldn't have been my first choice but you can't repaint a student house, so I'll work with it!

1. Grey Patchwork Throw| £17 I bought this grey quilt from Primark and fell in love with it (I'll admit the bow partly drew me to it). It has patches of various patterns including florals and checks. My room is the smallest of the house, so the bed will probably be the main focus, and I thought the quilt would make it look really pretty.

2. Jewellery Insert| £8 I recently took a trip to IKEA and despite the sometimes frustrating one-way system, I really enjoyed it. I bought this felt tray to organise my jewellery which fits nicely in my drawers. I've been looking for a better way to store my jewellery for a while, as everything was starting to get tangled in my jewellery box and getting anything out of it was a bit of a nightmare. So far this is working really well and I can see what I've got a lot better.

3. 'Home' Cushion| £6 I loveee having cushions on my bed because I like to make it as cosy as possible. I saw this cushion in Primark and loved it (it also matched the colour of my quilt which was a bonus). At University it's sometime hard not to get homesick, so I thought having this cushion in my room might make it feel a little more homely.

4. Storage Boxes| £7 This year I sometimes found it hard to keep my room tidy (especially given how small it was). With a growing collection of beauty products I needed somewhere to store them. I thought these boxes from IKEA would be really helpful, and so far I've found it's made my room feel so much more organised. I bought two because I didn't think all my products would fit in one (stereotypical female right here). This should really help keep my room organised- compact storage is definitely necessary in a 9 person house!

5. Duvet cover sets| £12 each I've always had a single bed and I'm finally moving into a room with a double bed which I'm so excited about. Obviously this means I needed to buy new duvet covers for a double bed. The first one (right) is from Asda's Home section, which distracted from my food shopping as per. It has a mixture of patches including floral and stripe patterns which I'm praying don't clash with my walls, we'll see! The second one (left) was from primark and I love the grey lace pattern at the top. The rest of the duvet has small grey flowers on it, which fits really well with the grey floral theme I seem to have unintentionally gone for!

This is just a small selection of what I'll have in my room, obviously I will incorporate a bit of colour other than grey! I'm also planning to cover my room with fairy lights but that goes without saying.

Hope you enjoyed this haul, let me know what you think!

Liebster Award

I was really happy to be tagged by Charlotte (check out her blog!)in something called the Liebster Award, which is for new bloggers. The blogger answers 11 questions given by person who nominated them, and then tags up and coming bloggers with under 200 followers who they think deserve to be recognised.

Rules!

1. Thank the blogger who nominated you
2. Answer the set of questions they gave you
3. Nominate bloggers and let them know!

Here are my questions and answers:

1. Why you started your blog?
I spend a lot of time reading beauty blogs and watching youtube videos and it's always been something I wanted to try myself. Now I have a couple of months off from university it seemed like a good time to give it a go!

2. Who your favourite blogger is?

Picking one is ridiculously hard (I'm useless at this). If I HAD to pick one, I'd say Sprinkle Of Glitter right now, but I'm pretty sure I have a new favourite every day, what a useless answer.

3. Do you upload youtube videos?

At the moment I haven't uploaded any videos. I really wanted to start making videos but it's quite a daunting thing to do, so I decided starting a blog was a good way to share my views first. Hmm we'll see..

4. If you could ask your future self a question what would it be?

To be honest I don't think I'd want to know anything about my future self, I'd rather be surprised- hopefully in a good way.

5. Who is your biggest inspiration?

Another impossible question. I'm inspired by people all the time for different reasons, I don't think I can pick one, sorry!

6. If you could be friends with any youtuber who would it be?

I think being friends with Bethany Mota would be a lot of fun, and she'd definitely be a good person to go shopping with.

7. How long have you had your blog for?

I wrote my first post roughly a week ago, so not long at all!

8. What is your favourite movie?

hmm, I don't think I've ever had one favourite movie, I change my mind all the time. At the moment I'd say The Fault in Our Stars because it's the last movie I watched and I loved it(I legitimately cried like a baby).

9. If you could only shop from one clothes shop for the rest of your life which would it be?

I always manage to find the odd gem in Primark and their prices are obviously appealing so I think I'd go for Primark. Also if I could only shop in one place forever I wouldn't want to pick anywhere too expensive!

10. If you could only use one beauty product for the rest of your life what would it be?
I think I'd have to say my simple moisturiser, purely because I can't imagine my skin looking very good if I didn't moisturise for the rest of my life..

11. Where would your dream holiday be to?

Anywhere with white sandy beaches and palm trees please and thank you.

I nominate:

Beauty Haul ft. Superdrug & Primark

This week is a month since I started my summer job, so today I decided to treat myself and picked up a few things from Superdrug and Primark that I've had my eye on for a while!

1. Maybelline Color Tattoo: on and on bronze| £4.99
I've been wanting to try this for a while after seeing a lot of people using it, so I finally caved and bought it from Superdrug. I love love love the shade 'on and on bronze' and I'm really happy with it so far. I love the shimmer in it (the picture doesn't do it justice), I'm also really liking cream shadow at the moment because it's so easy to apply and blends well.

2. Sleek blush: pixie pink| £4.49
This is another product I've been wanting for a while, and given that the lid came off one of my favourite blushes it seemed like a good excuse to buy a new one. I love how pigmented the sleek blushes are and this one really stood out to me. I bought a single blush as I didn't want to spend too much, but you can buy a set of 3 blushes for £9.99 at Superdrug, which works out better value if you want more than one.

3. baby lips lip balm: peach kiss| £2.99
I've been loving baby lips at the moment and I already have 'pink punch' and 'cherry me' which I use all the time. I don't tend to go for bold lips on a day to day basis because I prefer to save it for a night out or more special occasion, so these are perfect for a hint of colour during the day.

4. Barry M Gelly nails: Green berry, Rose hip and Prickly pear| £3.99 I've heard a lot of good things about Barry M's gelly nail polish ,but I'd never found any colours I particularly loved in this range. I'm loving their more recent colours and today I actually had the opposite problem- I wanted all of them. Luckily they're currently 3 for 2 at Superdrug so I could justify getting my three favourites. I've already tried 'Rose Hip' and loved how the colour looked and how shiny this polish is so I'm looking forward to trying the other two.

5. MUA Palette: Undress me too| £4
I don't often buy a lot of eye shadows but I love neutral tones so when I found this I fell in love. It comes with 12 shades including neutral tones, greys and metallics. I love the shimmery bronze colours and I think 'wink' and 'fiery' are my favourites so far.

6. Mini flower crown| £2
I recently watched Sprinkle of Glitter's new video and loved the flower crowns she'd bought. I've never been a fan of the larger ones, mostly because I didn't think I could pull it off, but I love these small ones and think they look really pretty around a bun. I found this one in Primark for only £2 (it comes in other colours too!) I've also used it for pony tails which I think looks really pretty.

7. Makeup bag| £5
The other Primark item I picked up was a new makeup bag. For a while I've been using the same small makeup bag  and storing my growing collection of makeup has been getting difficult. Today I was on the  lookout for a new makeup bag and was drawn to this one straight away. It's big enough to keep all my makeup in and I really loved the little bow on the front. It was definitely well worth the £5!

Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this haul!

OOTD: Festival Inspired

Today I thought I'd post what I'm wearing as it's finally hot enough to whack out the shorts/crop tops.

I decided my lack of festival tickets shouldn't stop me embracing the festival vibe in what I'm wearing. I'm a big fan of simple and comfortable clothes that you can dress up, I'm definitely not one to suffer for an outfit. I also don't believe you need to spend a lot on an outfit (especially when it's rarely sunny enough to actually wear it). I'm wearing a plain black stretchy crop top with high waisted denim shorts. I teamed this with a white lace kimono, which is my favourite part of the outfit, and a plain gold chain. I really love this outfit at the moment, let me know what you think!

What I'm wearing:
Kimono- Primark
Crop top- New Look
Shorts- Topshop
Necklace- Primark

Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Eyeliner (Black) Review

Hey Lovelies! I recently purchase the Rimmel Scandaleyes Gel Eyeliner so I thought, why not write a little review?
After trying both pencil and liquid eyeliner, I wanted to find something that would last longer without smudging. I thought I'd give gel liner a try and as it claimed to last 24 hours this one seemed ideal. The eyeliner comes with a pot of gel and a small brush for application. I was worried when I saw the brush that it would be difficult to apply, but after a few tries I've started to get the hang of it. It took a couple of attempts to get the 'cat eyes' even (bane of my life), but it's getting easier with practice!

The liner is a strong colour, which I was happy with as it doesn't seem to fade. Once you get the hang of using a brush it becomes quite easy to apply, the brush also picks up the product well and creates a smoother line than using a pencil or liquid liner.

I drew a few lines on my hand to test whether the product was waterproof as described. After applying water there was very little difference. One of the lines smudged a tiny bit, but it mostly stayed put which I was really pleased with.

Overall I love this eyeliner and would definitely buy it again. It was exactly what I was looking for and the £6.99 price tag from Superdrug wasn't bad either!

Summer Smoothies

Inspired by the recent 'heatwave' in the UK (using the term loosely), I decided to pop out and buy ingredients for a summery smoothie. I didn't have a recipe so simply threw in what I thought might go well together, and luckily the end result looked and tasted really good! It's so easy to throw together and the perfect drink to enjoy in the sun.

Ingredients:

- a handful of blueberries
- a handful of raspberries
- a handful of strawberries
- two bananas
- ice cubes
- a splash of milk

(I usually use juice or coconut water as the liquid for smoothies, but given the amount of sweet fruit already involved, milk and ice was probably a better choice.)
